Swot Consulting helps to find answers
Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) is the main government financing and expert organisation for research and technological development in Finland. It funds projects in companies, universities and research institutes. Through competitive bidding they chose Swot Consulting to evaluate one of the many programs they offer – “DENSY – Distributed Energy Systems 2003–2007”. The goal was to analyse the results and impacts of this specific program, as well as to produce input for the strategic development of Tekes activities in general.
DENSY was launched to investigate the area of distributed energy technologies and the possibilities it might contain for Finnish enterprises as new business and export. The evaluation done by Swot Consulting concluded that although the ambitious objectives that were set for this program in terms of business volumes were not met, the program had a substantial effect on the growth of the wind technology business and hosted a number of promising innovations in other segments of distributed energy systems. The program has been able to boost communications and to help Finnish small and medium-sized businesses in building useful business contacts.
